Create a report from the analysis tool

This feature empowers you to quickly generate shareable report pages from your project data, enabling you to effectively communicate your findings to a broader audience.

Note: This is a beta feature and requires access to the Communicate or Enterprise product plans. After analyzing and visualizing your data, you can create reports to share key insights with collaborators, community members, or other external stakeholders.

Reports are created using saved views

Adding Charts to a Report

  1. Go to Analyze. Choose the questions that you want to show. Add filters and edit the visualization if needed. Save the view.
  2. From the options menu, select Add charts to report. A preview will show which charts will be added.

  4. Click Preview the report page to view the newly created report page.
  5. Edit the report text and layout as needed (see What Kind of Content Can I Feature on My Website). This allows you to add context and narrative to your data.
  6. Click Publish to make the report live and visible to anyone with the URL.

Important: Each maptionnaire can only have one editable report page. You can, however, share previously generated reports.

Adding Maps to a Report

  1. Go to Analyze. Click the eye icon for map questions that you want to visualize on the map. Add filters and edit the visualization if needed. Save the view.
  2. From the options menu, select Add map to report. A preview of the map will be displayed. Currently, only static images can be added.

  3. Click Update to add the map. An image of the map will be added as the last element on the report page. Preview the report page to review the changes.
  4. Add multiple maps: Repeat this process to incorporate multiple map views. This is useful for showcasing different map layers or filters.

Applying Different Filters

Leverage filters to analyze and present your data from various angles. Reports allow you to combine views with different filters so that you can compare and contrast data sets. For example, you might compare responses from different age groups or geographic locations.

To show different filters in a single report:

  1. Select a saved view: Choose the view containing the charts you want to include in your report.
  2. Add charts/maps: From the options menu, select Add charts to report. If you are in the Charts tab, this will show the charts that will be added as well as any charts already in the report. The new and updated charts are marked accordingly. If you are adding a map from the Map responses tab, you only see the newly added map image.

  3. Click Update to add the charts or map.

Editing Charts and Maps in the Report

To change charts and maps in the report, edit their corresponding views in the analysis tool:

  1. Edit the source view: Select the saved view associated with the chart you want to modify.
  2. Make changes: Edit the chart as usual.
  3. Update the report: Click Add charts to report from the view's option menu. The updated chart will be reflected in the report. Updated maps will not replace the maps you have already created. Rather, the new map will be added to the end of the report. You can then delete the map you want to replace.
  4. Update: Click Update to finalize.
  5. Preview: Go to the report page to view the changes.
  6. Republish: Remember to re-publish the page to make the changes live.

Deleting Charts and Maps

Charts and maps can be deleted directly from the report page. Deleting a chart or map from a view will not automatically remove it from the report.

Creating a New Report: Start Fresh

Each Maptionnaire project can only have one report page. To create a new report from saved views, simply select the Create new report option after opening the Add charts to report dialog.

Caution: Creating a new report will prevent you from making further changes to the charts and map images in the previous report. While you can still share the previous report and customize its layout, its data visualizations will be frozen.
