Uploading maps, images, GIFs and other materials

You can always use your own maps, images, documents and audio clips in your questionnaires and pages. You can upload them to the platform either when drafting your survey/page in the survey/page editor or by uploading them directly to Materials.

Materials is a repository of all the materials that you want to use in Maptionnaire, and any materials you upload to the platform will be stored there. All the files in your Materials are always available to be browsed and added to your surveys when you are in the survey editor. You can also edit the settings of the different files in Materials.

In this example, we demonstrate how to add files to Materials with an image file, but the logic is the same for all kinds of materials.

How to upload a new item to Materials

  1. Log in to Maptionnaire, go to a project group, and choose Materials from the upper left corner menu. Click the button for the type of material you want to add.

  2. Follow the instructions in the window that opens (below) and upload the item. The item should then appear in the item menu.

  3. To edit the settings of the item or to copy, archive, or delete it, click the three-dot symbol on the upper right corner of the item card. For example, in the case of images, you can change the name, description, and attribution of the image, as well as write an alternative text that will help visually impaired users who are browsing with a screen reader.

  • Hi Ilya,

The same way as you would an image file:

    1. Go to Materials

    2. Click +Image

    3. Upload the GIF

In the survey, use an Image element to add it anywhere in the survey.

    Best regards,

    Asta from Maptionnaire
