You add content to your page by adding elements from the element library. You can access the element library from the pull-out menu on the right side of the screen or by clicking the Add element button in the middle of the page. The left pull-out menu is for page settings.
To add elements to your draft, simply click on them in the element library. In this section, you will be given an overview of each element. During the drafting process, you can always find more detailed instructions on each setting by clicking the ? symbols. You can change the order of the elements that you have chosen by dragging and dropping.
I want to add...
-
A main (h1) heading and an introductory paragraph of text
Instead of picking an element from the element library, open the settings bar on the left (cog symbol). Go to the tab titled Card. Write the heading and the description here.
-
A subsection heading
Add the element called Heading from the element library to your page. You can decide on its size, style and alignment.
-
A paragraph or a list of text
Add the element called Text box from the element library to your page. You can change the size of the text and add markdown language to it, which enables you for example to embed links, create bullet point lists or highlight parts of the text.
-
Some more space between different elements
To add some air between the elements, add a Spacer element (or several!) to your page. The spacer enables you to add a space or a line between different elements. This can be useful if you want to create a clearer division between two sections of the same page. You can also strengthen the visual appearance and its adherence to your brand style by playing with the color and style of the spacer lines.
- A link to another website
There's three options for this.
Option 1: Use the Add a link element. This creates a neat embedded link.
Option 2: Use markdown language to embed a link into a paragraph of text or a list. Add the Text box element. Make sure that Markdown is turned on in the element's settings. Write the title of the link in square brackets, followed by the URL in normal brackets. Make sure that there's no space between the two!
For example:
[Maptionnaire](new.maptionnaire.com)
Option 3: Use the External link element. This shows the link featured prominently in its own 'box' on the page, with a title, description and a featured image.
-
A link to another Maptionnaire survey or webpage
Add a Questionnaire link or a Post link element to your page. The title and the description shown in the card are taken from the questionnaire's or page's Card settings (which can be edited in the Card tab of Questionnaire settings).
To feature links to several Maptionnaire pages on one page, please see Carousel and Map elements.
- A timeline that shows all the important times and events in my project
This element allows you to list different events and important dates and times (e.g. deadlines) related to your project. Please note that Maptionnaire currently uses the MM/DD/YYYY format for dates.
You can feature the following on your timeline:
Under the Basic settings tab:
- Title of the timeline
- Color of the timeline
Each event:
- Title and description of the event.
- Start of the event
Under the Extra settings tab of each event, you can decide:
- Whether to use the event title or the date as the header.
- Choose a date granularity, i.e. should the timeline show just the month or date of the event or date + exact time. You can find this setting
- Include an end time for the event and switch on a setting that enables it to be shown for the event.
- Turn on markdown language for the element (allowing you to use cursive, bold and underlining in the event text)
- Feature a link in the event.
Under Extra settings tab:
- Set a time zone and enable the timeline to show in the time zone of the person who is viewing it
- Make decisions related to the visual appearance of the timeline. You can choose a horizontal or a vertical style, add icons and tweak the colors, functionality and text size of the timeline.
-
An image
There are two types of images that you can use to add visual content to your page. The Image element is the same width as the text, whereas the Page-wide image (hero image) is a banner-type image, spreading across the entire width of the page. Remember to first add your images to Materials to be able to use them in the website builder!
Under the Extra settings tab you can add a title or a caption to the image and decide on whether to show attribution.
-
An audio clip
You can embed an audio clip to your page. As with images and other resources, the audio clip also needs to first be uploaded to Materials.
-
A video clip
You can embed videos hosted on YouTube and Vimeo to your pages by using the Youtube video and Vimeo video elements.
-
A PDF (e.g. a privacy policy or accessibility document)
The File download element is the most suitable. It adds a button to your page, which the viewer can click to download the document to read.
-
A social media sharing button
Make it easy for people to share the page with their networks by adding a social media sharing button (or several) anywhere on your page with the Sharing button element. Currently available are Reddit, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and LinkedIn buttons.
