Filtering map responses

What is this feature?

The main idea behind the analysis tool is to make analysing the data you get from responses easier, without requiring you to transfer the Excel sheet to any other format or software.

 In the analysis tool, you can:

• Filter responses to map questions
• Examine the responses more closely on a map
• Create effective visualizations of the results
• Turn the resulting map views into image files that can be easily added to reports or for any other use

You can access the analysis tool from the three-dot menu of the questionnaire card or by clicking the Analyze tab on the upper right corner of the screen when in questionnaire edit mode.

How to filter responses using the analysis tool

1. 

   Add the map question you want to analyze from the drop-down menu and click Add analysis layer.  One map question = one map or analysis layer. Map questions are categorized according to the text on the drawbutton. You can change their titles after adding the layer. 

   

   When the layer is added, all the responses it contains will be shown on the map (above).

2. 

   You can access the filter options by clicking the expand (arrow) symbol on the upper right corner of the layer. Choose the Filtering tab.

   Pop-up questions = the follow-up questions that come up in a pop-up window after a map marking has been drawn. 

   Background questions = the questions not related to map questions.

   In this example, we are focusing on a pop-up question but filtering background questions works in exactly the same manner.

    Choose the question you want to filter from the drop-down menu and click Add filter.

   

4. Then choose the condition according to which the responses are filtered. These are

   • contains
   • does not contain
   • is exactly 
   • is not
   • contains any of
   • does not contain any of

   Then write the word you want to filter in the field below. The responses should appear in filtered form in the map view. In the example below, the responses have been filtered with the term 'beautiful' and the ones visible on the map contain that word.

   

   If the question you are filtering was a multiple choice one, you choose the multiple choice answer to filter by instead of a word.

   

   You can add multiple filters. If you use multiple filters, you should choose a filter mode. Choose Any if you want to see responses that contain any of the filter terms. Choose All if you want  the selected responses to meet all filter criteria.
