What is a Bing map?

Bing is a search engine produced by Microsoft. Bing Maps is its map service. To use a Bing map, you need an API (Application Programming Interface) key. For more information, see this link.

How to upload a Bing map to Materials?

  1. Go to Materials, choose the Maps tab, and click the Add Map button on the upper right corner of the page. Choose Add Bing map from the drop-down menu. You can also add the map directly in the questionnaire editor in the Maps section of the main settings.

  3. Once Maptionnaire has established a connection to the server, the map should be visible in the area that was grey in the previous window. You can now:

    • Name the map.
    • Write a Description for it (to be displayed in the item card).
    • Write a Control label or the map layer name that will be used in the map menu of the questionnaire if several map layers are in use.
    • Choose the type of Bing map that you want to use from Imagery set.
    • Customize the Bing map
  4. Finally, click Create item, or Save if you are editing the settings after creating the item.
