Carousel and map elements

The carousel and map elements are ways to collect pages onto a front page. The carousel element (pictured above) shows the page cards in a row or several rows. The map element (below) shows them as icons on a map, which open up as page cards when clicked.

Setting up the Carousel element

1.) Decide which pages you want to show in the carousel and think of a shared tag for them, e.g. #parks.

2.) Go to the settings of each page, and under Card, write #parks as a tag. You can also have other tags, but the shared tag is important for the carousel to function. Repeat this step for each page that you want to show in the carousel.

3.) Go to page where you want to present the carousel (i.e. your main or front page). Add the Carousel element from the element library to a suitable place on the page.

4.) Choose Pages as the Carousel type. Write the shared tag (in this example, #parks) in Carousel tag.

5.) Check from Preview that the carousel looks the way it should. You can set it to show the cards in either a single row or several, and randomize their order.

Setting up the Map element

1.) Decide which pages you want to show on the map and think of a shared tag for them, e.g. #parks.

2.) Go to the settings of each page, and under Card, set a location for the page. Then, write #parks as a tag. You can also have other tags, but the shared tag is important for the map element to function. Repeat this step for each page that you want to show on the map.

3.) Go to page where you want to present the map (i.e. your main or front page). Add the Map element from the element library to a suitable place on the page.

4.) In the element's settings, choose a default location for the map; you can use the system map offered or a map of your own. Choose Pages as the Item type. Write the shared tag (in this example, #parks) in Map tag.

5.) Under Themes, you can decide the color and icon to be used for the map points. You can present map points in different colors and icons on the same map. To do this, give all pages you want to have the same point color and icon the same tag (a thematic tag) in addition to the shared tag that should be the same for all pages that are featured on the map. Enter the thematic tag in Themes and choose the icon and color for it. You can add as many different thematic tag groupings as you wish.

6.) Check from Preview that the map looks the way you want it to look.

If you have different language versions of the pages you want to show in the Carousel/Map element, please note that you do not need to use separate tags for each language version. Instead, when a person views the page in a language, Maptionnaire automatically offers pages in that language in the Carousel/Map element.
