What is a WMTS map?

WMTS (Web Map Tile Service) is a geographic information system database that contains different map layers. Connect to the server via a URL and choose the map layer or layers that you want to use.

Are there any requirements (e.g. CRS) for using WMTS maps in Maptionnaire?

The WMTS should support WGS84 EPSG: 4326 or 3857.

How to upload a WMTS map to Maptionnaire:

  1. In the survey, go to Map and layout

  3. Enter the WMTS server URL. This should be the basic URL of the map server without any layers specified.

If the WMTS that you are using requires an API key, click the + symbol under URL Parameters. Write the parameter (e.g. access_token or api-key) in the first field, and the API key in the second one.

  4. Choose the layer from the Layer section. The map should appear in the preview window (it may require you to zoom into it manually).

  5. Check that the Matrix set is set to WGS84_Pseudo-Mercator
  6. Click Create item. It's now stored in Materials and can be used in all this team's surveys.
  7. Set the default map view for the map in the survey. Preview and adjust if needed.
