Style map responses based on answer values (Conditional styling)

1. Go to Map Responses in the analysis tool. Toggle on the map layer you want to display. Click the palette icon to open the styling panel.

   

2. Click "Add conditional style" if you want to customize styles based on answers to background questions.

   

3. Choose the condition you want to apply. In this example we want to see if different genders flag different places as dangerous for pedestrians, so we choose the background question on gender.

   
    

4. Select the condition, e.g. 'female'. Adjust the color, icon, or other appearance settings for this option.

   

5. Click Add condition again to define the visualization for another gender. Repeat as many times as needed.

   

6. When you are ready, click Apply to update the map. 

   

   Responses will now appear with different styles based on the selected conditions.

   

7. If you want to present the map in a report, you can also add a legend to go with it in Edit legend.

   

Tip! You can add as many conditional styles as needed to highlight patterns across different respondent groups. (If a response matches multiple style conditions, the first style you set takes priority). Return to styles later by saving each filtered view.
