1. Add the element to your questionnaire.
   
   
2. Write the question in Question label.
   
   

3. Decide if you want to change the size of the text box (e.g. smaller for one-word answers, bigger for longer texts), change the character limit and add a character counter.

Additional settings:

• Placeholder text: Displayed in the text field where the respondent writes their answer. The text will disappear once they start typing. It can help the respondents to understand what types of answers the questionnaire producers are looking for.
• Validate email address: Use this only when asking for the respondent's email address.
• Make the question mandatory to answer.
