When using the Public responses setting, it's important to moderate submissions in case a respondent posts something inappropriate.

To access moderation, go to Export > Moderate public responses. Here you can browse responses and hide individual ones using the Hidden toggle. A hidden response is no longer visible to other respondents, but it is still available internally (in the analysis tool and data exports).

AI Moderation

You can also enable AI to automatically moderate potentially inappropriate responses.

To enable AI moderation, go to the survey's Settings > Publication and turn on Enable AI moderation of public responses.

How it works:

  • Responses to questions marked as public are sent to AWS, where an AI model reviews them for inappropriate content.
  • Flagged responses are automatically hidden from public view.
  • You can review the reason a response was flagged — and manually unhide it if needed — in Export > Moderate public responses section.

Scope and limitations:

  • AI moderation only applies to open questions and uploaded files or images. Other question types are not reviewed.
  • If a response is flagged, any associated map question response will not be automatically hidden — you must hide it manually.
