The Analyze > Charts includes responses to open-ended questions. There's multiple tools you can use to examine and summarize this data:
- Apply filters: using different criteria (e.g. to compare comments from different age groups)
- Apply Spatial Filters: Filter a list of comments related to specific places on the map.
- Claude-powered AI tools: to summarize, tag and find sentiment from responses. Analyze open text responses with AI
- Word Cloud: shows the 250 most frequently occurring words.
Copy responses
Click the question 'open' in Charts and search for entries mentioning specific words by typing them in the search bar.
Copy the answers as a list by clicking the copy symbol on the top right corner
Word Cloud
Create a word cloud that shows the 250 most frequently occurring words. You can exclude words (e.g. common conjunctions like "and") by typing them in the text field on the left.
Sentiment analysis
Gauge whether the comments are overall positive, neutral or negative by using AI-powered sentiment analysis.
The sentiment analysis tool generates a bar chart showing the distribution of sentiment categories (e.g., positive, negative, neutral) across all responses. Each response is assigned only one overall sentiment in the bar chart.
The table provides a more detailed breakdown of the sentiment associated with each response. For example, a response like "This place is important" might be assessed as 53% likelihood of being positive and 47% chance of being negative. The table includes:
- The overall sentiment (the sentiment with the maximum likelihood).
- The likelihood of each sentiment.
- The original response text.
- The language selected by the respondent.
- A translation column: English translations for select languages.
- Important note about translations: AI-powered sentiment analysis is currently available for a limited number of languages. Responses in less common languages are automatically translated into English before sentiment analysis is performed. In these cases, the English translation is displayed in the "Translation" column.
