Maptionnaire empowers you to gain a richer understanding of your collected data through the integration of AI-powered analysis, provided by Anthropic's Claude. It can help you identify key themes, patterns, and insights from your questionnaire responses.
The AI-powered summarization works the following way:
- Select Your Data First: Before asking AI anything, go to the Analyze section and add the specific charts, graphs, or map layers you want to investigate.
- Send to AI: Once your desired questions (including open-ended text fields or map pop-up questions) are visible in your analysis view, click the AI button.
- Go to the analysis tool.
- Select which questions you want to analyze by adding their charts to the analysis view.

Click the AI button located at the top of the page. This will open the AI analysis interface.

Within the AI analysis interface, you'll see a table listing the responses to each question you selected.
The AI model will only analyze the responses to the questions visible in the table.
- Type in a specific question or instructions for the AI to analyze the selected responses (e.g., "Summarize the main reasons people like this area," or "Identify common suggestions for improvement"). You can also choose a default prompt.
- After the AI provides its initial analysis, you can ask follow-up questions to delve deeper into specific aspects of the responses.
Include questions from popups (Map responses):
- To analyze questions from map response popups, navigate to the Map responses tab.
- Toggle on the specific map layer that contains the popup with the questions you wish to include in your analysis.
- The AI analysis table indicates if a question comes from a popup.

About Claude and data
As of August 2026, Maptionnaire uses Claude Sonnet 4.6, running on Amazon Bedrock — the same AWS infrastructure that hosts the rest of Maptionnaire. The model does not retain your responses after processing them, and does not use them to train models. All AI processing of response data happens in the same AWS region as your data — EU data stays in the EU, US data in the US.
If you add or remove questions from your selection and then reopen the AI dialog, you will need to refresh the process and begin the analysis again. This ensures the AI is working with your latest selection of questions.
