Restrict respondents to a specific area (Masking layer)

Sometimes you may want to make sure that respondents either focus their map responses on a specific area or exclude some areas from consideration.

1. On the survey page where you want to add it, go to Map and layout. Click New to upload the map file (shp, geoJSON, WFS) or to create it from scratch.

   

2. Edit the name of the layer in the legend (or hide it from the map view altogether).

   

3. Add the map question (e.g. Map point). Go to its Extra settings.

   

4. Select the map layer under Restrict area. Select if the pins should be allowed to be placed inside or outside the area.
