Add maps to your questionnaire

  1. Each page in the survey has a section called Map and layout, where you can set up the map background for it.

  2. Choose Map as the Page type.
  3. Select the map(s) that you want to use on this page:

    You will need at least a basemap to ask map questions.

    The maps that you bring to Maptionnaire will be stored in Materials. Once uploaded, you can use them in any survey you create.

  4. Edit the legend.

  5. Set the starting location by clicking Set. The 'target' symbol tells you what the centerpoint of the view (it's not visible for respondents).

    If the survey is about a large area (e.g. city or state), consider if adding 'zoom shortcuts' could help respondents navigate.

  6. Preview the page! Remember to also check what the survey looks like on a phone.
  7. If you want to copy the same style for other pages, click the three dots next to the map's name and select Add to all pages. You can also return to edit any of the map layers from this menu, or hide them from initial view on the map (respondents will be able to select them from the map).
